Myles - 6 months old

My sweet little guy turned 6 months old on the 19th.  So now he is nearly 6 1/2 months old, but still.   Time has really flown by, and even after 4 kids it is still hard to realize that babies go from this

to this
so quickly.
I don't even want to think about what the next 6 months will bring.

1 month
2 months
2 1/2 months (blessing)
3 months
Easter (4 1/2 months)
5 months

6 months

We had his well child check-up last week and he weighed 16 lbs 8 ounces and was 27 inches.  He is about 50% for both.  He started sitting up alone when he was just over 5 months old and although he won't be winning any land speed records (yet!) he can army crawl to get stuff that is out of reach.  None of his siblings have crawled this early, it is amazing to watch him figure stuff out.  Time to get this house baby proofed, man I'm so not ready for that again....
He has two teeth, one came in a few weeks ago and the other last Monday.  His sweet smile and mostly happy personality melt my heart everyday.  People always comment on what a "good" baby he is.  Maybe I am just looking for something to complain about, but it seems he is always on his best behavior in public and waits to freak out when we get home.  He is much less fussy now that we have his tummy issues figured out though.  No milk or soy for this momma still, but I am used to in now and it is helping me loss tons of weight.  I have not weighed what I do right now since we were first married, probably before.  This morning I weighed 147.   Now if we could just get him to sleep better, but he is just to busy to be bothered with sleeping, unless of course he can get mom to just sit and snuggle him while he sleeps, then he'll sleep for hours.
We started solids when he was 4 months old and he loves everything!  He wants more of our food and I try and give him the things that I think he can handle without choking and he does great.  But I have to be super careful because of his intolerances.  We are still hopeful that he will outgrow them sometime around his first birthday, so far he has not.
This first 6 months has gone by so fast and I know the next 6 months will too.

Mother's Day

This year for Mother's Day the kids got me a bunch of flowers for the yard.  It was what I really wanted, I just wish we had some actual yard to plant them in.  But still, it was fun to get to fill up all of the planters that we had.  I let the kids all pick out the kind of flowers that they wanted and then we brought them home and planted them.

Myles didn't like the fact that he didn't get to help, and was even more upset about having to sit in the baby seat.

so pretty.

Preschool

Yesterday was Abbie's last day of preschool.  I am really sad for her to be finished with preschool.  She has enjoyed it so much and it seems like just the other day I was dropping her off for her very first day!

Here she is on her very first day of preschool.

And here we are at the last day of preschool.  She loved Sunshine Corner and her teachers
Mrs. Niehues

and Mrs Brady.

And all too soon it will be the first day of kindergarten!

Easter Pics

I took these pictures on Easter Sunday.  I just hadn't had time to edit them, and I wasn't crazy about the color or the lighting of them so I kept putting it off.  Then I ordered a collage picture for my mom for mother's day and I needed some pictures.  Finally I got around to tinkering with them and this is what I came up with.  I like them a lot better now, but I can't wait for this summer to get some others taken.

Which Season is it?

It would seem that we went straight from winter to summer....

Two weeks ago we had over 15 inches of snow on the ground and today it is 97.  This is totally crazy! I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Do You See What I See

A TOOTH!

Myles has been working on that tooth for what feels like forever and it has finally come through.  I felt it for the first time last Monday and it is finally through enough that I could get a picture of it today.

For the Birds

We bought a bird feeder a few days ago and have really enjoyed seeing all of the birds that have been attracted to it.  I don't know the names of all of the birds that we have seen and they are really fast, too fast for pictures most of the time.  But I did get a good shot of this little guy the other day.

I Really Thought We Were Finished

Then I woke up this morning to this...

Um, hello Mother Nature it is MAY 2 did you hear me I said MAY 2.... not Dec 2 or Jan 2 or even March 2.  This is the most snow we have gotten at one time all winter, wait it's spring or at least it should be.  Anyway this is the most we we have gotten all at once.
In case you can't tell there is at least 15 inches in our back yard.

At least the kids made the best of their snow day.  Yes, another snow day, which I LOVE but I think that we are at the point where we are going to have to start making them up.

Ashton and Abbie made a "snow moose"

We lost branches and whole trees around the whole neighborhood because of the weight of the snow.  So sad.

And it took Jake 3 hours to get to work... he got stuck at the end of our street and had to wait for a city plow to come by.  It took hours......literally. (His little car was pushing snow the whole way.)

The forecast is for even more snow tonight...or freezing rain.  Great, just great.  I think Mother Nature is bipolar.

Somebody is 5!

Abbie!!!

She was so cute when she was opening her presents tonight, she kept saying "Awesome! This is just what I wanted" every time she opened a new present.   She has had such a good year in preschool this year and I have watched her grow up a lot in the last few months.  I can't believe that she is going to go to kindergarten in the fall.  She is my best helper everyday, one of her favorite things to do is help me make dinner.  She sits on the counter and helps me add ingredients and stirs, and stirs and stirs.

Love you sweetie!
